11 Rebels (2024)
11 Rebels (2024) : Directed by Kazuya Shiraishi Set during the final days of the Boshin War (1868–1869), 11 Rebels follows a desperate plan by the Shibata domain. Facing defeat, their leaders offer ten death-row inmates a chance at freedom—if they can defend a remote fortress against the advancing imperial army.
Among the chosen convicts is Masa (Takayuki Yamada), a man imprisoned for killing a samurai who assaulted his wife. Alongside him stands a ragtag group: a murderous monk, a cunning female arsonist, a mute assassin, and other misfits. Though they come from different walks of life, they must fight together—or die trying.
As the fortress prepares for battle, tensions rise. Some inmates plot betrayal, while others begin to bond through shared trauma. Meanwhile, the enemy closes in. Despite their violent pasts, these rebels must now decide whether to fight for themselves or something greater.
Ultimately, the battle becomes more than just survival—it’s a chance at redemption. But not everyone will live to see it.
