Revised Plot Summary – Dasara (2023)
Set in the coal-dusted village of Veerlapally in Telangana, Dasara is a gritty tale of friendship, sacrifice, and justice. The story follows Dharani (Nani), a fearless yet troubled man who steals coal and spends his days drinking with his closest friend, Suri (Dheekshith Shetty). Both grew up together and share a deep bond. However, they fall for the same woman—Vennela (Keerthy Suresh).
Although Dharani loves Vennela, he steps back when he realizes she loves Suri. He supports their relationship and chooses friendship over desire. Meanwhile, the local Silk Bar becomes a symbol of escapism for the lower caste men in the village. Yet, power, caste, and politics tightly control this space.
Eventually, Suri and Vennela decide to marry. But tragedy strikes on their wedding night. Someone murders Suri in a shocking ambush. Dharani, devastated and furious, vows to uncover the truth. As he digs deeper, he discovers that Rajanna, a corrupt politician they once trusted, orchestrated the killing.
Determined to bring justice, Dharani sets out on a dangerous path. He confronts Rajanna and fights back against the oppressive system. Along the way, he transforms from a reckless drifter into a symbol of resistance. Ultimately, Dharani kills Rajanna, freeing the village from his grip.
In the end, Dharani restores Vennela’s freedom and honors Suri’s memory. The village, inspired by his courage, begins to rise against the social chains that once bound them.
