Jikirag (2022)
Jikirag is a folk horror film that blends pagan mythology, psychological terror, and eerie atmosphere. Directed by Alexander J. Baxter, Leigah Keewatin, and Jessica Moutray, the movie takes place in a remote village, deeply rooted in an ancient Eden-like land. The villagers live by strict traditions, believing their survival depends on maintaining a delicate balance between flesh and soil. However, when this balance begins to decay, the last surviving village elder must confront madness, supernatural forces, and the macabre to save her people from the monstrous judgment that rises from below.
The film is visually stunning, with haunting cinematography that captures the eerie beauty of the forest and village setting. While it draws comparisons to The Witch (2015) and other folk horror classics, Jikirag stands out for its unique storytelling and unsettling atmosphere.
